this was our 4th trip to Venice and are now seniors 65+ so the walking the old streets and the many bridges as well as getting on and off the Vaporetto's (water taxies) can be challenging. Be prepared to pay a fee to enter the city if just visiting for the day. If staying at a hotel you will pay the tax there. City tax 22% you will also pay a fee if you want to sit at a table in a restaurant 10%. Example single Pizza for one split three ways 1 draft beer, 1 sparkling water and 1 ginger ale. $45.00 Euro + tip!

Venice is a beautiful place. Sadly it has become very very busy. Seeing that I have been to Venice a few times before I managed to avoid the very busy spots and experience Venice's back streets and less known destinations. Of course the biggest fun is to just "get lost" in the back streets. You never really get lost because there are always arrows showing the way to major sights. Best is always to stay in Venice. I loved wandering the streets early in the morning when only me and the street cleaners are out. Took some wonderful photos that way

Gorgeous city. Tour groups are already clogging the streets by the end of April. Book sights well in advance for the first available entry. Photos are best taken before breakfast to avoid crowds pushing their way towards best viewpoints.

Definitely worth seeing but I don’t have a desire to go back it was very busy when we went last week in April and I imagine will get a lot busier as summer comes, some of the streets are only just wide enough for two to pass, it’s the nature of the city with its numerous bridges but wheelchair users will not be able to visit most of the centre, I’m not used to so many people in what are quite confined spaces but you have to move slowly and be very forgiving, Doges palace is worth seeing and of the islands Burano was a nice way to calm down at the end of the holiday and of course as you walk through the centre there are lots a of interesting features to be picked out, my wife used a good book for this Glam Italia 101 fabulous things to do in Venice by Corina Cooke

Bad weather spoiled the magic. Apart from that, Venice is an unique engineering wonder and major artworks display wherever you'd go. We've visited places we haven't seen before, so we only marginally touched on the San Marco's Basilica and the Doges' Palace. Ca' d'Oro, Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, Palazzo Grimani, and so on. Getting around Venice is reasonably convenient considering the given site limitations. The vaporetto's schedule is as reliable as any subway's. The rest of the central area can be covered easily by foot. The only thing we would avoid, next time, would be a bad weather forecast.ADRIANCanada

Our room was elegant and comfortable (though the water was not hot enough to take a shower in the morning or evening- this is the only reason why I rated the place very good instead of exceptional). The breakfast was exceptional - coffee, a wide choice of baked goods, delightful pastries, savoury food etc. We travelled a lot in Italy and I would rate the breakfast as one of the best we have experienced in Italy so far.
